busy baby!

or should i say busy mommy? hmmmm? here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks. despite how hectic work has been.... milo and i have been able to include a lot of fun in our days. we've been going to baby yoga once a week and loving all the friends we're making there. we get to stretch and align our chakras. milo is sitting up like an old pro now and just started copying little sounds that we make. too fun!

Halfy Halfy Birthday Baby!

milo is 6 months today! can you even believe it? he's so grown up. this last week has been huge for milo...... he got his first tooth! it's on the bottom front left and he's just getting ready to get the one right next to it. teething really added some fun extra flair to our middle of the night parties! last monday lorin was playing with milo and said he felt something scratch him when milo bit his knuckle....... sure enough the 1st tooth had just emerged from the gums!

we had a little mini half bday for milo yesterday with pop & glamma. i can't wait to enjoy every delicious moment of this month. there's just something about a 6 month old baby........... i think it's that calm before the storm. milo is sitting up and is so smiling and adorable. this is a awesome age cause they can't get too far away! pretty soon he'll be on the go....... cause he's already attempting to crawl (he ends up going backwards).

update: operation "sleep through the night"


it's been a blast! milo sleeps right on through the night and life is just peachy!

the truth is we've had a few good nights and some not so good nights. milo came down with a little cold on about the 5th night and that set us back. we're still working on it and i consider us lucky because milo goes to bed super easy at 8 pm. one thing's for sure there's a big difference in my attitude when i actually get a good nights sleep. so all you people reading this who get to go to bed tonight and wake up at a decent time in the morning (5:30am-8am) i'm jealous of you............ and yes....... i consider 5:30am decent.

this weekend lorin and i tried a new way to handle milo's night waking. after talking with milos doctor i felt confident to try to get milo to sleep through the night (10pm-5am) that's a reasonable chunk of time apparently. anyways the doctor told me that when milo wakes up and cries............ you let him cry. ouch! that is the hardest thing ever....... here's how it's going

night 1....... bed @ 8pm (easy), woke up at 12:50 and cried for 22 minutes..... fell fast asleep and woke up at 4:30am

night 2...... bed @ 8pm (easy), woke up at 1:30 cried for 30 minutes........ fell fast asleep and woke up at 5:30am

night 3...... bed @ 8pm (lorin put him down) woke up @ 1:30 cried for 20 min....... fell fast asleep mid cry woke up @ 6am :)

i've already noticed that he's happier during the day....... which he already was so happy but now he's a little more easy going. and i've already been acting like a sane person again now that i'm getting some sleep. we'll keep seeing how this goes...... i dread each night when he wakes up and cries because it hurts to hear your baby crying and not go in and sooth him which would be so easy. i just keep telling myself this is the best thing for him and i guess as parent you always have to make choices that aren't instantly gratifying but choices that you believe are best for the long run. also seeing his smiley morning face reminds me that he's just fine!

that's my ramble and i'll keep you posted on "operation sleep through the night"................. :)

we're back! here's some fun pictures from the last couple of months. there's been lots goin on. milo had his 1st Christmas and loved it. of course he didn't really know what in the world was going on but he sure loved seeing all his grandparents! we also started feeding milo rice cereal and yellow/orange vegetables....... he loves them and he loves to hang out in his high chair.

so incase you have not noticed i've not been updating like i used to. mainly because my husband thinks that i may be giving out TMI and he worries about internet predators. i respect that and it kinda freaked me out so i am going to try and be more careful about giving out names and locations.

growing in leaps and bounds!

milo is really growing fast. every little mile stone that milo hits is so bitter sweet. on one hand i couldn't wait for him to get bigger because he seemed so tiny and fragile to me, but on the other hand i wish time would move a little bit slower and he would stay this size a greater amount of time. i see how much just 1 week can change him. i just want to savor every precious moment with him. everyday he's doing something new, laughing, grunting, grabbing his feet, rolling all over the place and wrapping us right around his finger with his adorable smile with the eyebrows raised of course. yesterday we gave him his 1st little bowl of rice cereal (1 tbsp) he seemed to really like. he made funny little faces but kept guiding the spoon in my hand right into his mouth. it was a little messy but bling bling was right there to help clean up. :)

the Christmas season is in full swing. our house is nice and cozy and festive. lorin hung our lights last weekend and they look amazing. i will post pictures soon. there is something about this holiday and having Milo that has just made everything seem so amplified. i think about the story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of the baby Jesus and i feel so much more connected with it now that i have a baby. Christmas means so much more now and not because i get to pretend to be santa claws (i know it's claus but i like claws better)....... although that's gonna be fun too. but the minute i hear Silent Night my eyes start to tear up...... have you seen that pampers commercial with the sleeping babies...... peace on earth.

i'm back......

So it's been a little while because I'm so busy. I mean my days are like a blink of an eye. The last few weeks have been pretty amazing with Mr. Milo, he's rolling over now from his back to his belly via the right side and he has the most adorable giggle. Trying to make him laugh has kept me very very busy..... also I've actually been trying to get some work done at Mixie. Anyway all in all I'd say despite some minor sleep deprivation we're all doing great.  

On a side note: I didn't blog for 2 weeks and now that I'm back they have some fun new tools.  Check out the little video clip I added.  Also look out for my fancy use of the BOLD tool....lol! oops...... the video didn't load...... I'll try again later. :)

There's a cute story about the sweater Milo is wearing in this picture. Merrily made the sweater for Lorin when he was a baby but by the time she finished it, Lorin was too big for it. So now 32 years later it's getting some love. :) It's such a nice little sweater and Milo looks so handsome in it! Good job Moppa!
