Milo and I are staying home from work today. It's just too smokey to be out and about. We hope all of our friends and family are doing ok. We are praying that those who have been evacuated will be able to go home soon.

My Birthday!

I had the most enjoyable birthday weekend of my life! It was surreal spending the day with my baby. One thing that kept popping into my head was how when I was little I thought 29 was sooooo old..... but I don't feel old. We had a great swanky night out at Mesa in Costa Mesa on Friday night to celebrate mine and Anya's birthday. Then on Saturday we had some visitors over at the house to wish me a happy bday and give Milo a snuggle then we went on a coffee date and then the grand finale was sushi........ yummy yummy bday!

Milo had a great time meeting his Big Bubby. He rested up all day and was a charming delight when he met his Big Bubby, Uncle Ricky, Uncle Scotty & Victoria and cousin Natalie. He can't wait to see them all again.

dream come true.......

Since I was a little girl I have always wanted a tiny tiny pig...... and look now I can have one! Even cuter is that they are sold in pairs so they always have someone the cuddle with. I saw them on abc this morning.

Yawnnnnnnn!

It's 2am.... here's some cute pictures of Milo from last weekend. I don't mind getting up in the middle of the night to see this face. Usually he sleeps until about 3-4am so 2 is a bit early. I am working on the whole schedule thing with him and it's going ok. He's taking longer naps during the day........ which all the books say should make him less fussy at night. It's true! One of the best times of day with Milo is the early morning. He is so smiley and so sweet and happy. I think he's a morning person like his Mama.

Girls day out!

We had an awesome girls day out on Saturday (Nana, Auntie Kim, Paula, Auntie Renee, Riley, Milo & me). I had a little moment with a bamboo towel vender....... but besides that the day was great. Oh yeah..... about the bamboo towel vender...... I really need to learn to bite my tongue and I do regret stooping to his level and unfolding his towel display. Anyways..moving on. We went to the Girl Expo at the fair grounds (I don't recommend it) but we had a fun time being together. Then we went out shopping and had a late lunch. Milo and Riley were so good and so darn cute. Milo had his first official raining day on Saturday. We took a long morning nap and it was the coziest thing in the world.

"head in the clouds"

i went to put milo into his cute little onesie that we brought him home from the hospital in and it was a perfect fit. it made me emotional because i remember dressing him in the hospital and it was all baggy on him. i also remember before he was born this was the little onesie that i laid in his crib and imagined him in...... and the same onesie that i laid on lorin's shoulder weeks before milo was here. well..... he's here and now he really fits in this little special onesie as perfectly as he fits into our lives. the onesie says "head in the clouds" in french...... and that's exactly where my head has been.

i'm not going to lie...... this has been one of the most challenging times of my life. as natural as it feels to be a mommy at the same time it is so completely foreign and at times overwhelming. there is so much to learn and so little sleep..... it's enough to make you feel a little less than competent. of course i wouldn't change it for the world. i'm looking forward to all the exciting changes that milo and his parents :) are going to go through this first year. one of the most important things is to cherish every moment of his tiny babydom and to stay mindful of what an incredible blessing it is to be responsible for this life. this is what i will remind myself when i'm needing sleep and milo's needing me. :)

it is so rewarding to see his little gummy grin. i think it's so amazing what this tiny smile can do to me. when i'm away from him for even an hour i can't wait to get back to this face. milo's smile makes me forget that he kept me up just a little too much last night.

milo's 1st concert........

we had a fun little family outing to see a musician that lorin and i really like. matt costa played at american rag at fashion island. it was acoustic so we thought it would be a perfect 1st concert for milo. milo did pretty good....... he slept the whole time but i know he could hear the music in his little dreams.
