Girls day out!

We had an awesome girls day out on Saturday (Nana, Auntie Kim, Paula, Auntie Renee, Riley, Milo & me). I had a little moment with a bamboo towel vender....... but besides that the day was great. Oh yeah..... about the bamboo towel vender...... I really need to learn to bite my tongue and I do regret stooping to his level and unfolding his towel display. Anyways..moving on. We went to the Girl Expo at the fair grounds (I don't recommend it) but we had a fun time being together. Then we went out shopping and had a late lunch. Milo and Riley were so good and so darn cute. Milo had his first official raining day on Saturday. We took a long morning nap and it was the coziest thing in the world.

"head in the clouds"

i went to put milo into his cute little onesie that we brought him home from the hospital in and it was a perfect fit. it made me emotional because i remember dressing him in the hospital and it was all baggy on him. i also remember before he was born this was the little onesie that i laid in his crib and imagined him in...... and the same onesie that i laid on lorin's shoulder weeks before milo was here. well..... he's here and now he really fits in this little special onesie as perfectly as he fits into our lives. the onesie says "head in the clouds" in french...... and that's exactly where my head has been.

i'm not going to lie...... this has been one of the most challenging times of my life. as natural as it feels to be a mommy at the same time it is so completely foreign and at times overwhelming. there is so much to learn and so little sleep..... it's enough to make you feel a little less than competent. of course i wouldn't change it for the world. i'm looking forward to all the exciting changes that milo and his parents :) are going to go through this first year. one of the most important things is to cherish every moment of his tiny babydom and to stay mindful of what an incredible blessing it is to be responsible for this life. this is what i will remind myself when i'm needing sleep and milo's needing me. :)

it is so rewarding to see his little gummy grin. i think it's so amazing what this tiny smile can do to me. when i'm away from him for even an hour i can't wait to get back to this face. milo's smile makes me forget that he kept me up just a little too much last night.

milo's 1st concert........

we had a fun little family outing to see a musician that lorin and i really like. matt costa played at american rag at fashion island. it was acoustic so we thought it would be a perfect 1st concert for milo. milo did pretty good....... he slept the whole time but i know he could hear the music in his little dreams.

lorin and i had our 2 year anniversary on tuesday night. we went out on our first date since having milo. our date destination was javiers in laguna beach..... yummy. we actually went there on one of first dates almost 7 years ago and that's also where lorin took me the night he popped the question. awwww...... that's sweet!

5 nights home with milo

so far we've had 2 really easy nights 2 really hard nights and 1 in between night. the last 2 nights 1 was hard 1 was in between........ both had several costume changes...... every time this little guys pees he pees out of his diaper so he messes his clothing his blanket and cradle sheet......... that's alot of laundry and we're talking at least 5-7 times a night! seeeesh i'm tired! but i have to admit i love to get up and see his little face even if i am "run into a wall tired"......... i'm in love!

we're settling in........

today is milo's 1 week birthday! we are settling in to our life as a little family and loving every minute of it. we just can't get enough of this little guy. i get up with milo during the night and lorin wants hear all the details the next morning. lorin has gone back to work and can't wait to get back home to be with his baby (and me too.... i think). this is such a fun and magical time. i've been super lucky that my mom came and stayed with us for the last 3 days...... it really helped us ease into the big job as mommy and daddy....... especially with my c-section recovery. i'm recovering pretty well. i can't wait to be 100% and stop taking the pain meds....... they suck.... and make me kinda drowsy....... but believe me i need them. we went to milo's 1st doctors appointment yesterday it was our first trip out with milo. the doctor says he's doing great and he's gaining weight...... so that's good. we really like his pediatrician she's very nice and answered my whole list of questions patiently.
